First Friday Celebrates 25 Years – Plus Tonight’s Special Events

This week we have several major and notable events to kick-off the campaign for First Friday 25 (25th Anniversary) – here’s a listing of the events.

Notable ones include the Inside Out Instameet with Philadelphia Museum of Art, Mural Dedication at 251 N 3rd Street with Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, and Elfreth’s Alley Historical Marker Unveiling.

** Mural Dedication – Growth of a Metropolis

http://www.muralarts.org/Join the City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program to dedicate the new mural by world renowned artist Richard Haas. Growth of a Metropolis depicts the history of architecture in Philadelphia from 1682–2015. Painted by acclaimed muralist Jon Laidacker, this mural brings Haas’ signature trompe l’oeil style to 251 North 3rd Street in Old City. The dedication will be part of the larger events around the 25th anniversary of First Friday, presented in partnership with the Old City District. This project is funded by David and Jane Hummel.** Inside Out Instameet & Photo Contest

The winning photograph will be featured on the Streets Dept blog and displayed inside the Museum for two weeks. The winner will receive $500 gift certificate for Art on Demand purchases at the Museum.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art, with the support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, launched the 2016 season of Inside Out, a major arts initiative that brings high-quality reproductions of Museum masterpieces into communities throughout the city and region.
