WAR HORSE, winner of five 2011 Tony Awards, opened for the first time in Philadelphia on Nov. 20!

Joey and Nick LeMedica (R) from Newark, De. He's excited to be in town not only for you to see War Horse, but he gets to see his family for Thanksgiving.
Based on the epic novel, the powerful story was also the inspiration for Steven Spielberg's Oscar-nominated motion picture.  A remarkable tale of courage, loyalty and friendship, WAR HORSE is filled with stirring music & songs, and told with some of the most innovative stagecraft of our time. At its heart are astonishing life-sized puppets created by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, bringing to life breathing, galloping, charging horses strong enough for men to ride. WAR HORSE is the winner of five 2011 Tony Awards, including Best Play.
I don't know which is more excited, seeing Joey rise to the occasion, or seeing legendary Trudy Haines in action working a video camera at age 86. Happy Birthday to her on Friday when she is 87. Born November 23, 1926
“War Horse” is running through December 2 at the Academy of Music (Broad and Locust streets, Philadelphia,, 215-893-1999). Tickets start at $25.

Julie Dorenbos, Susie Celek & Bruiser Play With Manna Pies

Yesterday and Today the folks from Manna are selling their famous pies at the Bellevue Food Court in Center City. 11AM - 2PM - 10" Gourmet Pies serves 8, $25 or get the US Airways Cheesecake for $35
(odd it has a sponsor and sells for more)

Buy a Pie. Feed a Family.

Pie in the Sky is MANNA's annual fundraising event presented each Thanksgiving.  This event offers five types of gourmet pies for purchase.  The money raised goes directly towards the mission of MANNA - providing nourishing meals, along with counsel and hope, to people at acute nutritional risk from life-threatening illnesses.
With your help, we will raise more than $200,000, helping more than 2,000 of our neighbors get the meals they need this holiday season.

Susie Celek, Julie Dorenbos and Brusier were there filming their new TV segment on Comcast Sports Network called  "The Great Sports Debate- Cruisin for a Bruisin". Stopping by was hubby Philadelphia Eagles Player Jon Dorenbos and some guy who's on the Eagles who's name I didn't get cause he ran off to check out the new VOLT Salon located on the opposite side of the food court. Skin Palette is opening another spray tan place there.

The gals are asking Bruiser what kind of pie he likes.

Play this video before moving on to see what kind of pie he likes.

Pies are on sale at the Food Court at the Bellevue today too - 11AM to 2AM

Bruiser likes the kind of pie that's not on his face, but on his owners. Happy Thanksgiving!!
Thanks to all my friends, family and sponsors for my 3rd Annual Gilda's Club event. I'll write about it and a lot of the events I've covered this week and last soon, now that I have some time.

Photos: GO SEE KATIE COURIC Winners & Trip

Last week if you were following my Twitter @iphillychitchat you would have read about my trip to NYC with 6ABC to with the winners from the "GO SEE KATIE" sweepstakes.

It was a smashing success with over 4,000 entries! They picked 20 winners who could bring a guest to the event. Afterwards we ate dinner in the ABC Studios cafeteria. We didn't see anyone in person, but there were a lot of ABC stars hanging around on the wall. Diane Sawyer, Kelly and Michael, etc

A few of the peeps on the trip included: Maria Ioannides, Mike Monsell, producer 6ABC, Alicia Vitarelli, anchor,  Megan Egan, Courtney Ann Conigliaro and Kristy Sevag, 6ABC PR Rep Sevag Creative. They taped 3 shows that day. One was on on Friday. Today it's

Mo 11/19: Sally Field, Tony Bennett and Tuesday Giuliana & Bill Rancic, and Lauren Scruggs, the gal who walked into the plane's propeller last year. Now I understand how that happened.
After the trip I went back to the studio with Alicia to pick up donations from her co-workers for her family who lives on Staten Island. They were very generous. While I was there Brian Taff, Anchor, gave me a tour of the studio. WOW I was so impressed with the state of the art studio, as well as seeing the legendary Jim Gardner at work. I still can't believe he knows my name.
