TOP CHEF JENNIFER CARROLL'S ALL STAR PARTY - ++ Jill Scott's Hair Raising Biz, Wanda Sykes and SAFE chatter

Chit Chat Chatter:

Wanda Sykes, who is currently appearing in the production of Annie in Media, was spotted at Norstrom's earlier this week shopping for shoes. My source tells me she was super nice, and hysterical telling jokes to other shoppers around her.

Shops at Liberty Place: If you have lunch today at the Shops of Liberty Place you might run into the Heinz Ketchup people who are promoting a new ketchup packet. They're giving away fries for you to put it on. Follow them on Twitter for contests and giveaways @DipandSqueeze "Hey Philly! We’re kicking off the #ketchuproadtrip today. Do you dip or do you squeeze? Head to 1600 Chestnut St. from 12-1:45 to find out!" #DidYouKnow H.J. Heinz attracted traffic to his 1893 World's Fair booth by offering a small green pickle charm, which later became a pin.

SAFE is filming at the Westin. I tweeted Tuesday that they were filming outside the hotel, but today the action moves inside to the ballroom. The extra's are being held in the old Border's shop on the 2nd Floor of The Shops of Liberty Place until their close up on they're are called up to the third floor. Don't look for the Jason Statham to be cooling his heels there, he has a room in the hotel.

Soulja Boy in town to promote his new CD The DeAndre Way?, signed for fans last night at the Hard Rock Cafe. I completely forgot about it til I walked by last night, or I would have told you sooner. My bad.
I hear R&B singer Jill Scott is in discussions with Dobson Mills to open her own salon at the East Falls location.

Last night popular, hot, sexy Top cheftestant Jennifer Carroll hosted a viewing party at Ten Arts for her return to the popular cooking competition on Bravo TV, capital of the "reality show" empire.

Stopping by to wish Jen well was current title holder of Top Chef, self-proclaimed “beast in the kitchen” Kevin Sbraga. Kevin tells me he hasn't settled on a location for his new place yet, but is looking for an intimate space in Center City. We reviewed a couple locations together since I walk around town a lot, but most either needed work, were too big, or the block didn't give him the vibe that he's looking for. In the meantime Kevin's keeping up with his skills by hosting various dinners around town, the next one is at the Omni on December 16, but it's sold out. Congrats to he and his wife Jesmary who just welcomed a baby boy to the family, Kevin Angelo, who joins sister Jenae to complete the New Jersey family.

The Carroll family was on hand to support Jen again this year. As you may recall after last season, Joan Carroll had a bit of a health scare, but is now recovering beautifully and it was so wonderful to see her last night along with her kids Sunny and Jessica Carroll. Tom Lynch, Patty Lynch, Kristine Lynch, Debbie Lynch , Mr. Carroll

In the lounge I ran into, and spent most of my night with Philadelphia Style Magazine editor Kristin Detterline-Munro and her brother Domenic Gallelli who is the new president for the charity organization Sapphire Fund He is also the CEO-President of Prodigal Private Security, who's company keeps a lot of the club going kids safe throughout Center City. Sorry for those I didn't get to chat with, I rarely get to sit down and chat with Kristin and it was nice to get to know her brother too. Eligible ladies, he's a catch.
Stylish, fun, cute Nell Hoving, Photographer extrodinare and contributor to Phila Style Magazine.
Jamie Coyle and Rosa Swinton serve "The Chef Takes Manhattan" with Crown Royal Black. I hear it was delicious, but don't get up to quickly. #Fail Eric Ripert was a no show:(
It was great to see Philadelphia's Grub Street's Collin Keefe and Holly Drauglis Keefe

Jen spent most of her time where else but in the kitchen.
And her hard work paid off as we enjoyed the most delicious sliders, mussels, and other things delicious dishes she prepared during last years Top Chef show. At 7 p.m., a four-course tasting dinner by Chef Carroll kicks off the evening; diners can celebrate the night away with family and friends at their table, reserved for the entire evening. Or, revelers can head to the 10 Arts’ vibrant lounge to dance the night away. Everyone in attendance at the bistro and lounge is invited to enjoy a midnight balloon drop, live band, champagne toast and party favors. The 10 Arts dinner celebration is $155 per person. Reservations are required for dinner. The Lounge party is $25 per person (including in-house guests). No reservations will be accepted at The Lounge.
Monica Glass was also on hand last night presenting some delicious dishes including a pumpkin brownie and smores

Sucre: The Dessert Bar by Monica, a new experience offering guests the chance to fill their plate with a decadent variety of Pastry Chef Monica Glass’ creations. The Dessert Bar is available every Saturday afternoon from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm,
During Top Chef Season Six, Carroll won several challenges and ultimately made it to the competition’s “Final Four.” During Top Chef All-Stars, she will face 17 other chefs from previous seasons of Bravo’s popular series. Joining host Padma Lakshmi, head judge chef Tom Colicchio, and Gail Simmons at the judging table this season, is best-selling author and chef, Anthony Bourdain. (SPOILER ALERT: Jen survives to see another spatula next week.)

No party would be complete without a silent auction, and because this was a business networking event there were a lot of consulting packages up, as well as other business services. Clever, fun and different. It's always good to have a service or experience item in auctions. Changes it up a bit.

Today is World AIDS Day (This post is dedicated to my best friends Shawn Conley, Michael Root and Wayne Cohen who all died from the disease.) Monday night at the Four Season's nearly 400 people sold out the ballroom to raise money for Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS and raise well over $200,000 in the process.
A figure that excited and astounded the organizers. Way to go Philly!!!
( founded in October, 1987 by the Council of Actors' Equity Association. Money raised through the efforts of Equity theatre companies across the country was specifically earmarked for The Actors' Fund's AIDS Initiative. They award grants to organizations across the country. Some of the money raised Monday night will stay in the Philadelphia area.)

Swing actor Jared Bradshaw welcomes the guests (A "swing" is an understudy (usually a chorus member as well) who understudies several parts.) According to The "Seasons at the Four Seasons" is the effort of the "Jersey Boys" 1st National Tour cast/crew donating their time, talent, and voices to the ‘City of Brotherly Love' helping to raise awareness for BC/EFA. A portion of the proceeds will also benefit local Philadelphia charities. Slated performers include: Matt Bailey, Candi Boyd, Jared Bradshaw, Joseph Leo Bwarie, Christopher Deangelis, John Michael Dias, John Edwards, Alayna Gallo, John Gardiner, Steve Gouveia,Buck Hujabre, Denise Payne, Courter Simmons, Joseph Siravo, Ryan Strand, Lauren Tartaglia, Kara Tremel, Quinn VanAntwerp and Kevin Worley.
My favorite Jeweler John Wind donated several pieces to the auction. I hear he's interested in doing so at every Broadway Cares event since his mission is also to wipe out this horrible disease. The sports memorabilia did very well too. A signed bat by Shane Victorino at last peek was at $200, a ball by Cole Hamels sold for $150; John tells me he got a note from one of the Jersey Boys after they saw a write up about him in the Philadelphia Style Magazine, which was in his hotel room. I did a little Christmas shopping and picked up something for my niece, who's a big fan of the show, but that's all I can tell you I have a hard time keeping secrets when it comes to gifts.

Nancy Cygan, Betty Christian and Marianne Gardoski check out the silent auction items. They are big Jersey Boys fans.
Diane and Jeff Van Duyne

Linda Aversa-Caldwell, Delores Aversa, fresh face Quinn VanAntwerp who plays co-host's Lisa Gaudio's dad Bob, who wrote 80% of the Four Seasons songs.
Brianna D'Amico, mom Lisa Gaudio, guest, Jerry Blavet, Allan Domb, guest and Kristen Foote. (Kristen, Sabrina, Nicole and I are featured in a fun article in this month. Go give us some positive smiley love please.)
Senator Larry Farnesse and Erin Elmore enjoyed the South Philly cuisine of pasta, pizza, anti-pasta

Steve Gouveia with a few fans that follow the touring cast around the country. Hannah Caldwell from Texas, Danette M Pawloski, Buffalo NY, Pamela Maser and Shelley Greenberg both from DC, and Julie Moore, Indianapolis. Some of these girls have seen the show 30 times, and one of them already bought a ticket to the next stop, Boston. Steve tells me the boys are honored and feel a little like the Grateful Dead having such devoted followers.

A one of a kind guitar signed by Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio and the entire touring cast of the Jersey Boys.

Cast members Kara Tremel and Joseph Leo Bwarie do the honors.

The bidding for the guitar started at $2,000, was frenzied and sold for $22,500, when the crowd erupted in cheering and gratitude. Lisa Gaudio tells me that it was a lot of hard work to get this guitar signed. She and her husband Jimmy traveled up to NYC for the Jersey Boys 5th Anniversary Party last weekend. But because of timing and weather issues they were only able to get her dad's signature on the piece. It was never the right time to get Frankie graph. They ended up going to AC, where Frankie was performing, to finally get his John Handcock on the piece.John Michael Dias, who plays the singer with the famous falsetto during matinees, said he considers it a privilege to be the “fifth person ever cast as Frankie Valli.” He won the part after 13 auditions over two years. he's also an artist and painted the above picture that was also used as a stage prop during the Jersey Boys show.

Denise Payne, Candi Boyd, Kara Tremel

Philly’s legendary Radio DJ Jerry Blavat was the MC for the Live Auction, with long time friend Carol Tamburino

Some of the items up for bid at the live auction were Frankie Valli & Bob Gaudio signed lyrics of Sherry and "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You." Joseph Leo Bwarie Courter Simmons check out the treasured pieces.
The Philadelphia engagement of the Tony, Grammy and Olivier Award-winning musical JERSEY BOYS broke the box office record at the Forrest Theatre for the sixth time, grossing $1,451,273 for the week ending November 28. This tops the previous record of $1,401,420, which they set the week ending November 21.

The Jersey Boys sing the Beach Boys

Social Registered: Happy Shipley, Ed Shipley and Janice N. Wetherill with Kurt and Kirk Kirkpatrick and John Wind Happy's goal in life is to eradicate AIDS from the world. She's also found a new love John Wind's jewelery and bought every piece at the silent auction. It's feel good jewelery as proceeds go to fight AIDS.

Philadelphia WORLD AIDS DAY Event

Broad Street Ministry, 315 S. Broad St.
Wednesday, December 1, 2010, 5:30 – 7:30 pm
The Philadelphia World AIDS Day event will combine artistic performances, visual art displays, commemorative ceremonies, and FREE HIV counseling and rapid tests. Rapid HIV tests provide a result in 20 minutes. Information about HIV and AIDS services in the Philadelphia region will also be available. Rev. Bill Golderer, the convening minister of Broad Street Ministry, stresses that while the venue is indeed a church hall, this event is strictly
a secular one. Also included in the evening is a FREE dinner for all guests. or 215-731-9255

For World AIDS Day on December 1, 2010, over twenty local organizations have banded together to create a community event that both remembers the lives lost to this disease, as well as celebrates the lives of those living with HIV and AIDS.
Performances by the Philadelphia Gay Men's Chorus; Smoke, Lilies and Jade; and others will be highlights of the
