Alex McCord & Hubby Simon van Kempen Signing Books at Border's Book Store Center City

Since I just wrote about the McCord/van Kempen visit to Chelsea last week in my Philly Mag Column I thought I would post these shots of their signing last month here on Philly Chit Chat.
McCord and Simon van Kempen will appeared at the Border’s bookstore in Center City to discuss Little Kids, Big City: Tales from a Real House in New York City. According to the couples’ website:

“Writing with unique & humorous insight into the challenges facing city parents today, Alex and Simon use their own hard-won experience as a springboard to discuss a host of parenting topics, including baby s first six months, traveling with infants, hiring caregivers, disciplining, dealing with accidents, dining out, making the most of urban life, & scheduling time for non-urban escapes. A must for fans and parents!”

Anthony Young Natalie Warren Katelyn Panaro, Isaih Clemmons Adina Vanaman skipped a business class at the Art Institute to make the signing. They did tell their teacher that they would be meeting the couple and promised to make up the work. They also told me that after spotting the celebrity couple walking around Center City, they looked on my site to see why they were in town, and saw the signing scheduled on the right side margin where I put such info.

JULY 4TH THE REST OF THE STORY - Mumia idiots, DC Cowboys, Americana Houses

More July 4th Photos - I wrote extensively about my July 4th Weekend in my Philly Mag column yesterday, but I have a few more favorite pixs.
Love this Americana House in Audubon NJ

Audubon July 4th Parade. I was late waking up and getting there, I don't have any real pixs to talk about. Miss Justice Mt Ephraim
Phil and Betty McGarrigan with their political dummies. You may have seen them ride around during the election, on July 4th etc to get a laugh or double take.
After the parade, the committee members broke for a keg break at 10:30AM at the Clark House
Audubon Fire house

This is the house I lived in til I was ten.

Audubon is really cute.
Sunset July 3
The July 4th Parade on Market Street in Philadelphia; Thank you soldiers through time for keeping our land free.
Wawa avoiding some crap in the road.
A picture tells a thousand words. Mumidiot yelling at a child in the parade. (There must be a real cause they could put their energies towards.)
Marine Cpl John Folsom (white shirt, red hat) is touring the U.S. and spent the Fourth in Philly trying to break a Guinness World Record of 6,000 High Fives and raise raise support for Wounded Warriors Family, a nonprofit organization that supports military families. The Mumia supporters didn't pay him no mind (He stood there for about a minute trying to explain what he was raising awareness to), after complaining 5 minutes earlier how people didn't want to support what they were doing. Pot kettle?
Love love love this picture of Alys Nawaur with the Chinese Dragon

Mary E Pinkston, Delaware's Teacher of the Year. NJ & Pa's always was in the procession

America's Got Talent - DC Cowboys

Fairmont Senior High School - Steel Drum Band - Fairmont WV. Thanks for participating in our parade
The Phillies ball girls
Miss Philadelphia, Andrea Helfrich and proud mom susan
Mark Segal, Publisher of the PGN with other GLBT freedom fighters Frank Kameny and Randy WickerGay Band
I only want to see this tank in parades
I love this shot.
Mike and his mom on the balcony. Mike's mom always lets us have our July4th party at her house (Mike and I have a view of the Penns Landing fireworks). Below is a video taken from the balcony, you can hear the entire crowd get excited at some of the fireworks.

and yesterday the front windows came as well as the glass awning. They picked today at 7PM, as they believed they would impact traffic at a minimum.

Then my batteries died and I left.
I went back this morning, and I see they installed the windows above the doorway. Also you can make out the glass awning in place. Not as impressive as I thought it would be, like say
Liberty Two Residences glass awning.

Tutti Frutti opens on Walnut Street in Center City

Tutti Frutti at 1215 Walnut Street (next to Naked Chocolate) opened Monday July 5, as I first reported in my Philly Mag column last Friday. You might have missed it 'cause you were on the beach.

There are more than 45 rotating flavors of the self-serve yogurt, including Birthday Cake, Death by Chocolate, Blueberrilicious, Strawberry Field and Vanilla. It's Kosher and has good healthy bacteria, like what's in my fav store bought yogurt Activia.

Price is 49 cents an ounce - 16oz, 20oz & 24oz. Those little cups are for samples, or really skinny peeps who would never eat more than 1/2 oz of something delish with calories. I mean we are in the Gayborhood after-all and all the boys have to watch their figures.

Hours: 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. FREE WI-FI

Inside Tutti Frutti is the Small Oven Bakery, which will sell Japanese cream puffs known as “shu cream.”
The Cream Puffs are under $2.50 WOW
There are three booths for seating and three small tables for a total of 20 - 30 seats inside.
Shane came up with the design and layout of Tutti Frutti .
The historic ceiling remains untouched, and surprisingly blends in with the modern decor. The Yogurt, delishes. There are a few flavors that are non-fattening, plus lots of fun treats to add to you yogurt bowl with the yogurt.

I'm embarrassed to say that I have seen Chase Utley and the Phillies gang more times off the field than in the stadium. The last time I went to see a game was in 2005. (All these shots were taken with my new Panasomic LUMIX point and shoot pocket camera. 12x 12mgpxl)

(God Bless America; thanks for serving our country.)But thanks to Zarwin Baum law firm and marketing director, Stacey Kracher, Mike and I went to a game last night and stayed in their sweet
which was air conditioned and had lots of delicious food.
It was Hatfield Hotdog night, so there were plenty of them too.
Stacey and her friend who's name escapes me
Hmm a not so clear picture of my sister Janine and her DeFeo family. Janine was visiting from NJ for the Fourth. I was disappointed that I couldn't get to her row to take a family photo as section 143 for some reason has posted guards and you need to show your ticket to get in to photograph the area. It's as bad as greeting someone at the airport. Is it like that in every section?
Hits. I found that going to the Phillies game is an activity in itself. In the parking lot there are tail gate parties, frisbee games, bean bag toss going on. I think the secret to getting a good parking space is arriving 20 - 30 minutes before the game begins as the tail gaters start packing up releasing the parking spaces next to them of chairs and grills. Mike and I got a spot right near an exit.
Hmm I don't follow sports so I don't know who this is, but his uniform is going to need to be washed before the next game, grass stains.
Halladay, celebrate
Harry Kalas Broadcast Booth
Patrick Naugle proposes to Jessica Mateu and she says yes. What a great idea.
Can you pick out the grumpy looking A's fan?

Disappointed they only shot off about 5 hotdogs into the stands. Did their attorney's call?

Thanks Stacey, we had a great time.
This is just silly. Guarding the field when the players switch positions. Who gets these jobs. Even the guards attitudes come thru as if this is the stupidest idea since the DeLorean.
I see the Phanatic isn't nervous to take chances with his antics even though it just came out last week that he is the most sued of all mascots.
Who's that on the far left, why it's Chase Utley warming the bench with his injured thumb. Get well sir.
And with that the game was won 3 - 1 and we rushed out the door.
