ERIN ELMORE CELEBRATES ANOTHER MILESTONE BIRTHDAY

(recommended music for today's blog)

No sooner did we ring in the New Year did we find ourselves at the same spot we were just a short while ago last year celebrating Erin Elmore's birthday. This year we've moved up in the world and partied at Girasole in Center City.Ashley Elmore, a teacher, Ph.D. candidate, and younger sister of Philly lawyer Erin Elmore (a contestant on The Apprentice's third season in 2005), turned up Monday night on ABC's The Bachelor, vying for the hand of Jake Pavelka. Ashley tells me The Bachelor was a great experience, she enjoyed it, she was completely true to herself and her students are really having fun with it. I asked about the stewardness outfit and what everyone thought of that. She said Huey, it wasn't tawdry. I brought it cause I do teach Marketing, and he was a pilot. It was fun.
If there's one thing Lily Connor, Kristen Foote and Erin love to do
it's have a good time. I brought party favors. Erin tries on her hat while Ashley holds on to her heart Although it once belonged to Jason Dills. The duo met over 10 years ago, but things didn't work out. Eventually Jason moved east to Philadelphia, and moved right in with Erin, but there was no sibling rivalry as Erin and Jason are like brother & sister. Their still is no doubt a major attraction between these two, but it's mostly respect and admiration.
Another looker is Linday Furman who tells me that her company (w/Michelle Miller) is looking for interns. If interested contact her at Lindsay @ the nouveauimage (dot) com & you could get school credit too. She's here with new squeeze Jamie Dulin
Edward Goldstein and Lesley Kozloff. Married for a bit, they found it a joy to stay in for New Year's Eve and ring in the new year. Sounds great to me.
What you and Nick are making the announcement that you're officially going steady, is what I think Ashley was saying.
The story of how the song "Happy Birthday to You" came to be, began as a sweet one, that later soured. Two sisters, Mildred Hill, a teacher at the Louisville, Kentucky Experimental Kindergarten, and Dr. Patty Hill, the principal of the same school, together wrote a song for the children, entitled "Good Morning to All." When Mildred combined her musical talents, as the resident expert on spiritual songs, and as the organist for her church, with her sister's expertise in the area of Kindergarten Education, "Good Morning to All" was sure to be a success.
How appropo a hand bags calendar for Erin.
Heather Fish, Erin, Danielle Poe and a newly dyed Stephanie Rybczyk. What do you think of Steph's new hair color?
Curtis and Heather Fish
Arthur Kade and Sabrina Tamburino. This week is Sabrina's bday blowout, and it is going to be a blowout. Last year Jamie Foxx made an appearance.
Danielle Poe wants you to know that InterCall is offering a friends and family discount for audio and web conferencing. Let her know if anyone is interested ( dpoe [at] intercall [DOT] com) . This is the year of gift giving. She and the gang had an awesome time at the Sumo Lounge ringing in the new year. Danielle Poe and her new squeeze, well maybe not new, but new to me as it's the first time I've written about him ok, Jay HershmanI don't have a clue what they are doing, but it seemed to be common for them as there's a set of these on FB under New Year's Eve photos. Jamie Dulin, Jay Hershman, Deanna Kaugman and Jeremiah Bodner
Sabrina and Kristen share a good laugh. In the foreground is Tony Piazza who always seems a bit shy.
Then before ya knew it we were out in the cold off to Parc for the afterparty.

RANDOM PICTURES AND A RUMOR

Yesterday's sunsetA Charlie Brown Christmas in Cherry Hill
Rittenhouse Square and Love Park still have their Christmas Trees lit. So hurry up over there and get your holiday card pictures for next year.
Sweet, someone wrapped this tree in Rittenhouse Square with a crochet blanket.
Are the rumors true is Govberg's leaving the Boyd's building and settling in the old Jack Kellmer Co store on Walnut Street, a street that they used to have a brick and mortar on? Two sources tell me it's been a done deal and will happen early in February. Wed I also learned the "G" in G Lounge stood for Govberg. Who knew, how clever!
UDATED: Dear Hughe, Just saw your post about Govberg....the rumors are indeed true! The store will likely open in the beginning of March rather than early February, and
we are so excited for the changes that will come about once we return to
Walnut Street.

In the meantime, if you are in the market for a new watch or a special piece
of jewelry, we are actually planning a fantastic MOVING SALE beginning on
February 1st, at both our Boyds and Bala Cynwyd locations. An incredible
selection of Swiss timepieces, and designer and classic jewelry will be on
sale (40-70% off!!!), plus a great assortment of luxury accessories.

Will we see you at the Lemon Ball this weekend? (YES!!)

Thanks so much!
Caroline

A PHILADELPHIA TRADITION: PHILA BAR ASSOCIATION WELCOMES SCOTT F. COOPER AS NEW CHANCELLOR

As a paralegal you don't realize how frightening it is for me to subject myself to a roomful of attorney's, but since I work in the legal field I was familiar with the annual tradition of the Bar Association greeting their new Chancellor as he starts his new term as their leader and was excited to see how it plays out.

Scott Cooper with wife Karen Cooper
The 2010 Chancellor, Scott Cooper, is a partner at Blank Rome Scott Cooper. It is estimated that he will shake nearly 1,000 hands in about 2 hours at the reception held at the Grand Ballroom at the newly named Hyatt at Bellevue. Mayor Nutter stopped by...
as did former DA Ron Castille
Lumberton attorney Sharon D. Larmore and Philadelphia Lawyer Allan K. Marshall
13,000-member bar association at the grand ballroom. The last time we photographed this room we were at the Tamburino and Thorne nuptials.
Steven P. Barsamian, Pennsylvania Supreme Court Justice Seamus P. McCaffery and Louis J Arnold
Bernie and Mary Barczak, with Carole and Dan Cirucci
Philadelphia Entertainment and the Arts Attorneys Chris Cabott and Lloyd Zane Remick with Joanne. Funny story, at least once a month I accidentally call Chris Cabott when I really want to get a hold of Chris Gabello as their names are right next to each other on my phone.

JIMMY ROLLINS A CLASS ACT DONATES PHILLIES MEMORABILIS TO THE ATWATER KENT MUSEUM & wedding bell news

On Monday, December 21, a day after the big snow ended, the Atwater Kent Museum of Philadelphia (AKMP) accepted the donation of baseball memorabilia from the Phillies' 2008 World Championship and 2009 National League Championship seasons from shortstop Jimmy Rollins and team president David Montgomery at a ceremony held at the Independence Visitor Center. The mayor was late no doubt because of the snow and emergency commitments. So I took some crowd shots. Who's this in the crowd but former Managing Director Phil Goldsmith (thanks Phyllis)
Councilman Bill Greenly was among the peeps in the packed room.
Among the donated items will be Rollins' 2008 World Series Championship season uniform. Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter and Atwater Kent Museum of Philadelphia Executive Director and CEO Viki Sand will accept the items. In addition to the presentation, there will be a screening of "Base Ball: The Philadelphia Game," narrated by Rollins, a "webisode" which is part of the documentary film "Philadelphia: The Great Experiment," a work in progress by Sam Katz of History Making Productions.Carol Tinari, with daughter Nina Tinari and Nicole Cashman. They all look snugly warm. Speaking of snugly warm, Nina just returned from a trip to Dallas, but only the game was disappointing as she watched it in Dee Lincoln's club box with Kelly Boyd (who I ran into last Thursday at Parc looking great and celebrating the 6 new clients she signed for the new year), local Del Frisco's GM, Shang Skipper, who was promoted to regional manager for Sullivan's and starts in February. As for Carol Tinari she has a big wedding to execute for her other daughter Mia, which just might be the social wedding of 2010.

The Atwater Kent Museum of Philadelphia (AKMP) is the gateway to city history. Founded 70 years ago as the history museum of the City of Philadelphia, students, families, metropolitan residents, national and international visitors discover the city and gain insight into contemporary urban life through exhibitions and programs. In 2009, major renovations to the historic, 1826 Museum Building are transforming exhibitions, programs, and public services.
"We are delighted to accept Jimmy Rollins' uniform and the Phillies memorabilia for the Philadelphia history collection. Mr. Rollins' and the Phillies' generous contributions add to a continuing story of the city's great sporting heritage. We are currently in the midst of a major renovation to turn the historic building on 7th street into a dynamic 21st century museum for Philadelphians and visitors. Jimmy's uniform will be the centerpiece of an all-new Philadelphia sports gallery when we reopen in the fall of 2010," AKMP Executive Director and CEO Viki Sand says.
Johari Smith and her parents were there at the ceremony, and in two short weeks will be in the Cayman Islands marrying her fiance Jimmy Rollins with Shane Victorino in the wedding party, a source told me Tuesday. (Jimmy was in Shane's wedding party too.) Many of the Phillies will be attending the wedding.
"The past two seasons have been a special time for our ball club," said Phillies president David Montgomery. "We are delighted that these seasons and 127 years of Phillies baseball will be memorialized along with many other Philadelphia sports moments with the opening of the Atwater Kent Museum's sports collection. We are thrilled to be a part of this exciting new exhibit."
"This exhibit will preserve the legacy of Philadelphia baseball," said Jimmy Rollins, Phillies shortstop. "Fans will get the chance to relive some of baseball's greatest moments for years to come."AKMP currently cares for a diverse collection of Philadelphia baseball memorabilia items that includes artificial turf, seats, and a ticket turnstile from Veterans' Stadium, the 1982 uniform of Phillies legend Mike Schmidt, a signed baseball from the 1930 team including the autograph of Connie Mack, a ticket to the 1929 World Championship Games at Shibe Park, and an autographed team photo of the 1910 World Championship Philadelphia Athletics. Sam Katz told the story of how he got Jimmy Rollin's involved. Sam's wife Connie Katz works out at the same gym as Jimmy's fiance Johari Smith. Connie just asked Johari if
Jimmy would be interested in narrating the film on the history of the Philadelphia Baseball game, and the rest as they say is history.

NEW YEAR'S 2010 PARTIES, MUMMERS & FRIENDS and all around winner

HAPPY NEW YEAR
Originally I was just going to have 6 people over because of the month I had, but as the day drew near, literally a couple days before I invited a few more peeps.Lanina Cavicchio , Scott Righter, Tim Young, Mike, Phyllis Halpern, Tim Graham, Eric Laumer & Stephen Cavicchio. Mostly peeps I've known for 10+ years. Scott & Eric I've known for about 20+ years
Normally at this time we would all be on the balcony watching the Penns Landing Fireworks, but this New Year's it was a no go with the fog and we were left inside to watch Dick Clark ring in the New Years, then quickly turned to CBS3 for the fireworks.
but there was also plenty of celebration in our living room too until about 2AM. Tim, Jim, Vince, Jamyra Perry, Mark Bagley, Melony Roy, Megan Smith.

Across town Daniel Stern had his first soiree at his new place R2L on the 37th Floor of Liberty Two. Here he is with his wife Jennifer Stern, as shot by Tyler BoyeThese girls have a varying of assets, Sabrina Tamburino Thorne, Kristen Foote and Erin ElmoreJessica Porcini, John Bolaris, Nicole Cashman and Lauren Peloff enjoy the festivities. Also shot by Tyler Boye. R2L opens to the public in just a matter of weeks and will be the highest restaurant in the City. Cashman & Assoc's executed this party for Daniel Stern. I hear it was a huge success, despite the fog blocking the dern fireworks. The next day I woke up entirely too late to enjoy many of the mummers performances,
I did catch a few good shots like Polish American Stringband's Jim Werner. Jim can be seen on the current issue of Where Magazine with the Bacon Brothers who performed a charity concert in December in order to help www.SavetheMummers.com
Here's their performance on New Year's Day 2010

Happy Mummers. I just the parade and the excitement, the out of the control, the distinctly Philadelphia Phun!! (Oh and by the way, looks like all CD's are only $9.99 at FYE)

Mummers
The Mummer's are a Philadelphia tradition, so even though this women was dressed in her finest and on her way some where, she knew it wouldn't really be a new year without a glance at the parade.

Hmm not a big fan of these glassesThe Union League. I heard they had over 2500 people at their party.

Chris' Jazz club on the 1400 block of Sansom was having a special.

Rubber Chicken
Stylish couple
Then it was over to Aly Green's open house. She lives right at Broad & Walnut and has a magnificent view of the parade. Here she is with Tony Rufo Jr. who has a magnificent view of the City from his 44th floor apartment.
Mover and shakers' Michael Piszek and Drew Milstein.
Erin Elmore and Nick
Pamela Schoenfeld, Chef Brian Duffy of Kildare's, Brian says to be on the lookout for a bountiful of the Kildare brand opening up near you. Especially in Glenn Mills where a Harvest will be opening. Nothing on the menu will be over 500 calories. Sounds like my kinda place for my new year's resolution diet. With him is his squeeze Jill Shoenfeld
Inside I found these two surrounded by a few spirits: Deanna Karonia, sorry I'm too tipsy to write neatly she said, and Jeremiah Bodner
KJ and Erica Heilman. Erica gave me some good advice that I probably won't follow cause, but thanks.
A shot down Broad Street. The end is near as the parade finishes up at 5PM two years in a row. I kinda miss those 8PM ending parades.
Mummer's are for Lover's

The crowds were packed at all the right performing spots. Many families on hand too.Mike at night

Carol DeVivo, Janice Rufo, Sarah Devivo, builder Tony Rufo Sr., Chris Rufo and Ben Rufo
Then it was on to South Philly and the annual H&H Party
It was rocking. Must have had about 100 people in their house. We stayed for one drink, then everyone headed down to Two Street. Mike and I headed home. What an awesome New Year's, just the right amount of mummers and merriment.
The beginning of the parade is the brigades, including the comics. Here's a nice video showcases them. They kick the parade off first, and the string bands and fancies end the parade 6 hrs later. then check out this link for a whole bunch of Mummer's videos for your enjoyment.
